Apple cider vinegar and steel wool on pine. I left the lid off the jar but the vinegar was evaporating so i sealed the jar and set both jars aside for a week or so hence the mold you see in the tea jar. I guess its probably a good idea to let the steel wool disintegrate completely and it was well on its way but im impatient. In this video i show what vinegar and steelwool mixed together looks like on poplar white pine white oak and pallet wood. The second mix is balsamic vinegar with one whole steel wool 0000 i also did a jar with half of a steel wool to see if that would make a difference.
I got a small chunk of 0000 steel wool and dropped it in about 12 of apple cider vinegar. There are a lot of posts out there on how to age wood with vinegar and steel wool. Thanks for watching you can also find me on the following. Which one stains or ages wood the best.
The posts are good in that they explain the ratios of vinegar and steel wool and sometimes water or tea but you only see the results on one project they made or maybe a few test strips of pine or cedar. The steel woolvinegar needs to oxidize for at least 24 hours but preferably longer. Both apple cider and white vinegar can be used i just decided to try apple cider first.
