Gorton mill collets. Some from that series will have a head that will tilt and nod as this must have been optional. I certainly hope you are not stuck with those. Spindle does no tilt and only moves in and out as doozers does. Z collets are available on ebay in every conceivable fractional metric drill etc size imaginable for not a lot of money.
Its a small gorton 0 16a with a universal head and yes i got a set of gorton collets with it. I have an collet chuck that came off of a gorton mill my family had many years ago that holds the zz collets. Its a little bugger with the head at about chin height and the table at about mid thigh so itll be a sit down machine to operate. Gorton 1 22 11 05 2006 1135 am.
I just bought my first mill. I looked at an older gorton mill last week out of curiosity since the guy had a smaller horizontal mill for sale and the mill took what appeared to be one of gortons propietary collets with flats on the outside. It was re banded with the gorton name on it in the beginning but later ones has ue name on it. It was an integral spindle with this gorton taper.
Collets for gorton 85d i have become the new owner of a 85d and am in need of some collets and a depth stop assembly. Mill with a 9 x 34 table. Speculative bid on the gorton mill on ebay to find to my surprise that we won it. Fortunately you do seem to have one piece of tooling.
The older gortons 8d 8 12d and 9js had gorton collets or bs 9 mostly. I have an old gorton mill which at some point in its life was adapted to take universal z collets. My book i used to have said the 8d mill did not have this adapter. Somewhere i have the catalog showing the page above.

It looks like your machine is standard with the dreaded gorton taper tooling or collets are about as scarce as hens dentures. Mine takes a small collet made only by gorton. I had one of these to my 9j mill bty. In fact gorton did not build it.
I have a 8 12 d gorton vert. I have bought some from gentlemen on this site long time ago. The ones with this feature that i have seen appear to have a different ram. Quick tour of the gorton accessory mounts and what theyre for on the 8d 85d and 9j mills.
Its also available from rich gortons site too. My mill has a 1 12 hp 230vdc motor. Only the 8 12d had the 9 b s adapter and the 9j had a 10 b s taper.
