Atlas 10f Lathe Specs

This is my first metal working tool.

Atlas 10f lathe specs. The atlas th54 10f lathe. But they at least didnt re number all existing parts. I saw in other threads that the atlas lathe operation is a good book to get. The lathe came with a lot of tooling reamers and chucks.

How to upgrade an atlas 10f cross slide control from a knob to a lever for better cross slide control. The atlas mill has some parts that begin with 9 m6 s7. There is a 10f th54 for sale about a days drive round trip from me. I picked this up the other day and was wondering if i could have a little info on it.

Clausing didnt follow that rule. As the last 12 inch atlas was assembled on the 6th of march 1981 it brought to an end a production run of lathes that can be traced back to the original 9 inch atlas model of almost 50 years before. Im carrying on his hobby and enjoy using the lathe. Marketed from the start of production simultaneously as the sears craftsman metalcraft it was to be developed steadily.

Well the price was right and i could not pass it up for better or worse. Now the 10 f th42 is a th54. The machine as i found it had no tooling and instead of a compound slide and cross slide had some sort of t slotted table. Most shaper parts begin with s7.

Im looking for a cheap to buy lathe. Cheap beeing relative to the brand quality and size of the machine. However 10d and 10f are series numbers not model numbers. Atlas lathe home page a complete data pack is available for the atlas 10 inch other lathes having introduced the improved model d atlas 10 inch of 1936 that addressed many of the machines earlier weaknesses d was not a catalog description but cast into various parts and so a handy way of referring to the model further changes were made with the model f in 1937.
